Fantastic Fishing in Northern Minnesota

Dead Lake in Richville Minnesota has fantastic fishing and lake fun for all! The lake features over 7900 acres of water with calm bays, multiple islands and over 36 miles of shoreline. You’ll find a wide variety of fish including Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Crappie, Perch, Sunnies and more.

As an environmental lake, development around the lake is limited thus allowing the lake habitat to flourish. The lake offers several deep holes perfect for walleye fishing. The bass are plentiful along the weed lines and near structure. Sizeable crappie and sunnies are prevalent in our bay and throughout the lake. And Northern Pike…. they are everywhere. Anglers of any age can catch fish on Dead Lake with many quality fish caught directly off our docks.

Gas, bait and tackle can be purchased at the resort store. Complimentary printed lake maps are also available.

We also provide a fish cleaning house and freezer space for your catch. If you just can’t wait to eat your catch, each cabin has a grill and picnic table. And, fish stories abound around the campfire.

Fish you can catch…

Walleye: Dead Lake is a hidden gem for walleye fishermen. In the spring and fall they can be found in the deep holes. During the summer the walleye on Dead Lake tend to stick to the weedlines and may be a bit more challenging to locate. Guests often report catching them in the summer while fishing for other species which we believe is due to the lake’s unique structure of deep holes surrounded by mid depth weedy flats. 27″ to 30″ walleye are a common summer
catch.

Crappie / Panfish: Guests are never disappointed when fishing Dead Lake for panfish. They are large and plentiful; 10″ to 12″ Crappies are common making this species by far the most popular among our guests. Crappies and other panfish can be found in our bay and within the short boat ride between the resort and Indian Point. Catching enough for an evening fish fry is pretty much a guarantee.

Bass: Bass are plentiful and receive very little fishing pressure on Dead Lake. Largemouth Bass are plentiful while the Smallmouth Bass population is still growing. The morning and
evening bite is strong and the bass are commonly found along the weed lines in the summer. As the resort owner Mark’s favorite, you are assured to get some great advice from him on where they can be located.

Northern Pike: Well, all we can say is “If you spent a week at the resort and did not catch a Northern, you didn’t go fishing”. They are everywhere on Dead Lake. Unfortunately most are smaller, but with some persistence and skill the larger ones can be located.

Dock Fishing: The resort has 13 docks in various depths of water which makes them ideal for some leisurely fishing. So, if you want to relax but the kids are begging to go fishing just rig up a pole and head to the shoreline. Catching fish from the docks is very common and a great way for kids to enjoy the sport.
